Field trip: El Galeón

This magnificent ship, El Galeón, is a 170-foot wooden replica of explorer Juan Ponce de León’s ship and is docked at Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale only through Tuesday May 18th. The Broward County Commission sponsored 20,000 free tickets; which are all sold out.

But we toured this morning and the crew weren’t collecting any tickets, so I think you can still try your luck showing up without tickets, but no guarantees, okay?

My advice is to park at the beach across the street and walk across A1A to Bahia Mar. El Galeón is docked to the north of the parking gate. Head west toward the intracoastal waterway you can’t miss it. Go early to avoid the heat and large crowds. It’s worth it, the ship is magnificent.

Some photos from our tour this morning in case you can’t make this one. Also, more details if you’re going.
