simple snacks #4: pineapple with lime and cayenne
I am more and more convinced that the key to eating healthy is having a go-to roster of healthy snacks that are super simple to prepare. My homegirl Lauryn over at The Skinny Confidential swears by this combination. I was skeptical because I don’t love really spicy food. She raves about it so much, though that I had to try it.
Pineapple with lime and cayenne is a great way to liven up your fresh pineapple routine. The lime juice balances out the sweetness of the pineapple, and the cayenne snaps all of those fresh flavors to life.
Cayenne is a super food with so many benefits that you should try to get as much in your diet as possible:
- assists weight loss
- boots metabolism
- breaks up mucous
- anti-fungal agent
- prevents migraines/headache
- prevents gas
- aids in digestion
- heals ulcers
- prevents factors that can lead to blood clot formation
- possible anti-cancer agent (1)
- is a circulatory stimulant and thus helps the body remove toxins
Cut up your pineapple. Squeeze a bunch of fresh limes and pour the juice over your pineapple spears. Sprinkle with cayenne pepper to taste. Simple!
Thanks for this yummy super simple snack, Lauryn!
