You’ve arrived at midlife, which is a little surreal – kinda like that Talking Heads song;
And you may ask yourself…well…How did I get here?
Midlife is tricky because you look around and feel so grateful for the life you’ve built. But, maybe you’ve noticed unexpected changes. Maybe you just can’t understand why you’ve gained weight when you’re eating all the ‘right’ things & are working out like usual. Not only that, but all the strategies that you’ve always used to lose weight in the past just aren’t working anymore.
Maybe you’ve got fatigue that doesn’t go away even with a good night’s sleep. Maybe you’re not sleeping well at all. Maybe your relationship feels a little rough around the edges because you just don’t have the patience you used to.
It doesn’t help that most days you feel like you are on a hamster wheel, and you just can’t get off, so if you hear from one more person that you should cut your calories or just exercise more you’re going to scream.
The truth is that you work harder than anyone you know.
What you need are proven methods to find more time in the day to figure this out. You want to feel better after a shitty day without downing a bottle of Rosé. You want to get your family to pitch in more around the house without getting shrill, and for-the-love-of-Mike, you really want to lose some weight and start to feel and look like yourself again.
I hear you.
As far as the weight thing goes, the truth is that many women have become insulin resistant in midlife, and unless you address that, you will never be able to lose weight. Funny how once you can address the physical you feel like you can take on all of the other stuff.
I want you to know that you can fix insulin resistance. You can determine if you have a sluggish thyroid from years of calorie restriction and heal that, too. You can learn how to find more time and live the life you always wanted. You can actually feel better about any obstacle in your life right now or to come when you learn how to coach yourself. It’s NOT too late to create that positive momentum you’ve been looking for in your life. This time in your life may feel strange and uncomfortable in many ways, but that’s because it’s the perfect time to start making real changes that matter.

As a wife to a traveling yacht captain and mother of two, my 30’s went by in a blur of adrenaline. I got really good at struggling to do everything myself and burning myself out the process trying to do it all. I managed to fit everything in by surviving on very little sleep.
