My whole life I’ve always chosen my cosmetics based on performance, name brand, &/or price. I mean, I want my cosmetics to WORK for me. So, I turned my eyes away from those long ingredients lists. I didn’t want to check to see if they were made animal cruelty-free. I had too much to think about already without also having to think about this whole other thing, too.
I don’t really know why it was always so much easier to scrutinize my food labels and quality rather than the products I put on my skin, but what can I say? It took me a while. It’s a process.
clean beauty 101
I dove into the research with the intention to finally figure out once and for all if this clean beauty thing was worth my time and money and whether I’d have to give up performance in order to get a clean beauty routine. After all my research, I wrote a 4-part series on the why behind Clean Beauty. Why it matters, what’s at stake, and the lies that we are being told by the beauty industry and our government.
Because with all that I’ve learned now I can’t possibly recommend a single product to you unless you too know the truth about how traditionally made cosmetics have the ability to degrade your health & wellbeing in very serious ways that only increase over time.
In the first post, (how to know if you have heavy metal toxicity) I share with you my own personal story of going through heavy metal toxicity and why steering clear of heavy metals in my makeup probably should have been a higher priority for me. But again, this is a personal journey and one that each one of us chooses to take in our own time. For this reason, I’ve compiled this Clean Beauty 101 page to house all of this information for you to bookmark and come back to when you need it.
I’ll be adding product guides for skin care, makeup, bath, and sunscreens as I work my way through my own personal research and experience with products.
Beautycounter is a U.S.-based cosmetics company whose mission is to bring safer products into the market. Beautycounter is committed to a health and safety standard that goes well beyond what’s required by the U.S. & European safety laws by banning the use of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals. Founder Gregg (female) founded the company with the intention to create products that could perform equal to any other high-end conventional beauty or make-up product in the market while staying true to their safety standards.
I encourage you to try some Beautycounter products. About 80% of my beauty products & 90% of my makeup now consist of Beautycounter products. I truly enjoy using them for both for their performance and the peace of mind using them brings me knowing that I am using safe products and supporting a company whose mission and values align with my own.
I was so impressed by Beautycounter’s mission and product performance that I have partnered up with them as a consultant/affiliate. I’m really excited to share with you some of my favorite Beautycounter skincare and makeup products. If you have questions about Beautycounter’s products or are interested in joining the movement to put safer cosmetics in the hands of women worldwide and please contact me.
