Recommending Stitch Fix Online Personal Styling Service
Online personal styling services are becoming really popular right now. Have you tried one? Two of my girlfriends tried one called Stitch Fix, and raved about it; so I tried it too.
how it works
You begin by signing up online and filling out a style profile which takes ten minutes. Your stylist now knows what style you prefer, your sizes, color preferences, and budget. Stitch Fix can style sizes 0/XS–14/XL and also offer petite and maternity styling. You set your own schedule for how often you want your Fix sent to you – every 2-3 weeks, every month, every other month, quarterly, or you have the option of manually scheduling your shipments.
Your stylist will send you a selection of five handpicked clothing items, and/or shoes & accessories on the date you choose. At the time your stylist selects your items, you will be charged a $20 styling fee. That $20 will be applied as a credit toward anything you keep from your shipment. There are no other membership fees.
what's in the box
Your five items are there, along with a style card that shows two outfit ideas on how to style each item. There is also a postage paid U.S. Postal Service self-sealing bag to return any items. It's so easy just place it in your mailbox within three days of receiving your Fix.
Then you go online or in the App and indicate which items you're returning and you can see your instant credits, schedule your next shipment if you need to make changes, or send a note to your stylist.
I just received my fourth Fix. The first two I think I only kept one or two items, and I remained skeptical if this was something that would work for me. But, I went back into my style profile and tweaked a few of my responses. The third shipment was way better. This last one was nearly perfect. Just one pair of shorts that I loved was just a bit too small, so I returned them. I emailed my stylist about it and in one day she located a bigger size for me, shipped them out to me the same day, and credited me my 25% savings for keeping all five items. So I've found that as I refine my style profile and my stylist gets to know what I like the options she sends me just get better and better.
why it works for me
I like to think I can shop on my own just fine and that I don't need any stylist help, but the truth is that my closet is becoming much more varied and functional now. I've found, and I think everyone could look a little more stylish by trying some options that they wouldn't normally pick out for themselves.
Plus, I hate – okay, despise – trying on clothes in the store, so much so that I got into this bad habit of just buying what I think will work, trying it all on at home, and then have to schlep back to the store to return. What a huge a huge time waster.
Plus, I'm not sure what happened in the past few years, but I really don't enjoy shopping for clothes as much as I once did; so coming home to a box of options that I can try on in my own bedroom really works for me. Also, have regular fixes the problem that happens when I feel like I have nothing to wear. I go to the mall and buy too much – and then regret my purchases. It's almost like grocery shopping when you're starving. I just make bad decisions when I'm feeling under pressure. Getting regular Fixes takes the pressure off, and slowly keeps my wardrobe updated and keeps me within my budget.
try your first Fix
As you can already guess, I'm loving my Fixes – so much so that I've partnered up with them to become an affiliate. Which means that I earn a small commission if you sign up through any of the links here on this page. So be sure to use them to sign up for your first Fix if it's something that sounds right for you, too. All of my affiliates are companies and products that I personally use and recommend.
But you don't have to be a blogger to earn your own referrals!
Once you sign up you'll be assigned a personal referral link to share with your friends and encourage them to try Stitch Fix, too. For each friend who signs up and orders a Fix, you get $25 in Stitch Fix credit. The credit will be deposited in your account as soon as your friend’s Fix has shipped.
